Tips & Advice

We get this question fairly often from industrial and commercial grease users. They ask if the color actually makes a difference or more frequently we will get calls looking for a “red, tacky grease.” Simply put, the color of the grease does not change the performance characteristics and it is only the manufacturer who determines the grease color. Similar greases from different manufacturers can be different colors. In the Mobil line, there are many different colors used from dark blue (typically for multipurpose greases made from conventional oil base stocks), to red (mostly for multipurpose synthetic greases), grey (for those containing moly for many off road equipment specifications), and white or undyed greases (typically used in paper machines or food grade applications). While the color can help identify and keep different greases separate on the job site or in the plant, the application is more important to select the right grease than the color. If you need help or have questions selecting the right grease for your job, we have Sales Engineers available and the full support of Mobil to to find the right grease for you. You can also check out www.mobilindustrial.com or www.mobildelvac.com for more information on individual products and case studies from other Mobil Grease users.

Some above-ground tanks have a sight gauge where you can read tank levels. If your tank is underground, you can use a dipstick to read the level of your tank. We offer marked dipsticks that are long enough to reach the bottom of your tank. Lower the stick until it reaches the bottom, bring it back up, and read the depth of the oil where at the highest point of the liquid on the stick.

What our customers are saying…
Megan Hutson
Residential Customer
“Absolutely wonderful company. We had an oil order placed, but ended up needing oil sooner than we realized. We called Asheville Oil Company, and not only did they have the best price for oil, they were able to fit us into a busy schedule instead of letting us be cold all weekend. Can't recommend this company enough. Forever customers right here.”
Nick Lingardo
Residential Customer
“Needed oil in a pinch as the house I just purchased had almost none. Asheville Oil Company was the only one in the area that was able to fit me into their already busy schedule.
Mike was extremely helpful and understanding, and a big thank you to the delivery guy who was able to fill up the tank.”
